For the past 28 years, Mitsi Dancing School has developed a legacy for producing the most outstanding dancers with versatility to excel in all types of dance, a clear understanding of classical ballet and Chinese dance terminology, fastest pick-up ability, best performance ability in movements and facial expressions, and the understanding and love for the rich Chinese culture and the art of dance. Our professional faculty and guest artists always consist of the best from around the globe.
Mitsi Dancing School is the only (Chinese) dance school in Houston to produce full-length Ballets at our annual recitals incorporating all the students in our school. Our professional staff, high level of our students, and proficiency in classical ballet has allowed us to produce timeless classics such as: Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Cinderella, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland and with more to come. Students of Mitsi Dancing School are able to receive P.E. credits for their dance classes during middle school and high school as well as community service hours for their performances throughout the greater Houston area and beyond.
Mitsi Dancing School¡¦s company, Dance of Asian America (DAA), is the only non-profit Chinese dance company recognized by the City of Houston. DAA and Mitsi Dancing School students perform with and receive training from top nationally recognized and award-winning dancers of the Shanghai Dance Company, Beijing Dance Company, and China¡¦s National Song and Dance Troupe as well as many of Houston¡¦s best dance companies. DAA and Mitsi Dancing School are the only Chinese Dance Company and School to have our own city-wide productions at Miller Outdoor Theatre twice a year.
Over the past 28 years, Mitsi Dancing School and our students have received countless awards and recognitions for their outstanding dedication to the community through the highest quality of Chinese dance technique and performance. Mitsi Dancing School was also selected as one of the 3 dance studios in all of North America to be featured in Dance Studio Life Magazine¡¦s first time introduction of Chinese Dance Schools to the nation. Mitsi Dancing School was also the only Chinese dance group to be selected by Dance USA to perform as one of Houston¡¦s 11 BEST dance companies.
Recently, Mitsi Dancing School received ten (10) 1st place awards in Starbound National Dance Competition, Showstoppers National Dance Competition, and Dance Showcase USA. Mitsi Dancing School steps above other dance schools by competing in the professional category for all three competitions. Mitsi Dancing School also received 1st and 2nd Place for BEST of ALL Duets/ Trios at the Dance Showcase USA.
